dc.description.abstract-translatedThe paper deals with the landmark decision of the Court of Justice of the EU in the field of monetary law. It points out how EU law in this area has been interpreted since its adoption, especially with reference to the exclusive com petence of the EU in this area, the autonomous interpretation of the concept of legal tender, the principled acceptance of the euro currency and the possi bilities for enacting exceptions to the acceptance of the euro.en
