dc.description.abstractTato diplomová práce se zabývá životem a dílem anglické spisovatelky Mary Shelleyové. Cílem práce je analyzovat vybraná díla této autorky a identifikovat v nich charakteristické rysy gotické literatury. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část poskytuje informace o význačných osobách gotického románu, představuje hlavní rysy tohoto žánru a popisuje podstatná období ze života Mary Shelleyové. V praktické části jsou analyzována dvě díla této autorky, konkrétně román Frankenstein neboli Moderní Prométheus a povídka Transformation. Důraz je kladen na určení typických znaků gotického románu.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis thesis is concerned with life and work of English writer Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. The objective of this thesis is to analyse selected Mary Shelley´s works and identify the specific features of gothic fiction in these writings. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part provides information about eminent personalities in gothic fiction, introduces main aspects of this genre and describes important periods of Mary Shelley´s life. The practical part of the thesis presents the analysis of her two works, novel Frankenstein,or,The Modern Prometheus and short story Transformation. This part is focused on determination of particular gothic elements in the works mentioned above.en
