dc.description.abstract-translatedThis paper explores the impact of large-scale events on visitor flows in the Czech Republic. The research aims to identify whether these events affect these flows, with a focus on short-term effects, especially outside of Prague. Using data from the Czech Statistical Office and CzechTourism, the study examines how major events, such as the Ice Hockey World Championships, drive tourism demand, particularly in less-visited regions like Ostrava. Through time series analysis and descriptive statistics, the research reveals that major events significantly increase tourist arrivals, especially from international markets, and stimulate local economies through heightened spending on accommodation, food, and entertainment. Additionally, the findings highlight the contrasting effects of such events in established tourism hubs, like Prague, versus emerging destinations, underscoring the potential for event-driven tourism to promote regional development. Thus, the objective of determining the impact of these events on visitor flows has been achieved, with findings showing short-term tourism growth in regions outside the capital. However, sustaining the benefits of event tourism requires strategic post-event marketing and infrastructure investment to ensure long-term growth. This research contributes to understanding the role of event tourism in shaping tourism dynamics and regional development in the Czech Republic, while also calling for further studies to examine the long-term legacies of such events on local economies and community engagement.en
