Investigation of the Influence of Geometry of Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Coupling Coils on Transmitting Performance

Abstract

The aim of this paper is a comparison of the properties of DD (double D coil) and a rectangular WPT (wireless power transfer) coils with the same external dimensions, consisting of the same number of turns. To compare the properties of the DD-type coupling coils and the rectangular coils, simulation 3D models were created in the COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 environment. Performance evaluation was concentrated on the identification of coupling properties in dependency on the mutual misalignment. Secondary, the power transfer characteristics have been evaluated as well.
