dc.description.abstractHlavním tématem práce bude vývoj československé menšiny v USA v letech 1948 až 1968. Práce v sobě skýtá prostor pro rozbor okolností odchodu obyvatel z Československa po roce 1948 a zároveň situaci nově příchozích Čechoslováků v USA. Konkrétně se práce bude soustředit na to, jak se emigranti v nové zemi uplatnili, jak byli přijímáni ze strany obyvatel USA i ze strany svých někdejších krajanů nebo zda dosáhli úspěchu. Práce se také bude věnovat kulturnímu a sociálnímu životu české a slovenské menšiny, jak se snažila udržet svojí národní identitu a jak se v průběhu let měnila. Dále se autor práce zaměří na rozmístění československé menšiny ve státech, kde se Češi a Slováci usazovali nejvíce. Cílem práce je tedy podat ucelený pohled na československou menšinu v USA ve zvoleném období.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe main topic of the thesis will be the development of the Czechoslovak minority in the USA in the years 1948 to 1968. The thesis provides a space for the analysis of the circumstances of the departure of the population from Czechoslovakia after 1948 and the situation of the newly arrived Czechoslovaks in the USA. Specifically, the thesis will focus on how the emigrants made their way in the new country, how they were received by the US population and by their former compatriots, or whether they achieved success. The thesis will also look at the cultural and social life of the Czech and Slovak minority, how they have tried to maintain their national identity and how it has changed over the years. Furthermore, the author of the thesis will focus on the distribution of the Czechoslovak minority in the countries where Czechs and Slovaks settled the most. The aim of the thesis is therefore to provide a comprehensive view of the Czechoslovak minority in the USA during the chosen period.en
