dc.description.abstract-translatedThe article approximates the national and international legal regulation of child trafficking and sexual exploitation of children. In the same way, the contribu tion approaches the strategic goals of the Slovak Republic in the fight against human trafficking as individual cases and examples of the procedure not only of law enforcement agencies and courts in the fight against these serious crimes against human dignity and freedom. Child Trafficking is a phenomenon that affects the entire world, and therefore the Slovak Republic is no exception. This form of criminal activity can take several forms, in our country children are most often trafficked for the purpose of forced labor and prostitution. Children end up in such a situation for various reasons, sometimes they are kidnapped, persuaded into a decent job abroad, where they are subsequently forced into prostitution, sometimes the family and the environment in which the child grows up are to blame. Trafficking in human beings as a part of the transnational organized crime is a growing phenonemenon over the last dec ades. The fight against this crime on national level hasn´t been very succesfull for various reasons. One of them is the transnational nature of the crime. States and international organizations search for ways to fight this crime on interna tional level. United Nations Convention against transnational organized crime with its Palermo protocol has been the flagship of this cooperation so far. But the impact of this convention is limited – apart from providing so much needed internationally recognized definition of human trafficking – it contains mostly measures and provisions to be adopted into national legislations.en
