dc.description.abstract-translatedThis paper investigates friction-induced instabilities in railway vehicle drives, specifically focusing on torsional vibrations triggered by sudden drops in wheel-rail adhesion. The study models the adhesion mechanism by assuming an elliptical contact area and a friction coefficient that varies with slip speed. A minimal torsional model of the drive system is derived to investigate the dynamic response during wheel slip.en
