dc.description.abstractTato diplomová práce zkoumá koncept sportswashingu a kriticky analyzuje, jak je tento pojem definován a využíván v akademické literatuře. Na základě kvalitativní obsahové analýzy 38 recenzovaných článků indexovaných v databázi Web of Science do března 2025 práce ukazuje, že neexistuje jednotná ani všeobecně přijímaná definice sportswashingu. Termín je naopak interpretován různými způsoby - nejčastěji jako forma propagandy, nástroj soft power nebo předmět kritiky - v závislosti na teoretickém přístupu a kulturním kontextu jednotlivých autorů. Výzkum rovněž rozlišuje mezi státními a nestátními aktéry sportswashingu a zdůrazňuje, že ačkoli je tento fenomén často spojován s autoritářskými režimy, jako je Saúdská Arábie, Katar či Rusko, podobné praktiky lze nalézt i v demokratických zemích, byť jsou méně často označovány jako sportswashing. Práce se dále věnuje podkategoriím jako footballwashing či martial arts washing a akcentuje význam jasné identifikace aktérů a mechanismů těchto praktik. Závěrem studie konstatuje, že nejednoznačnost a flexibilita pojmu sportswashing komplikují jeho teoretické i praktické využití a doporučuje zaměřit další výzkum na empirické ověřování, mezioborové srovnání a metodologické zpřesnění, aby bylo možné lépe porozumět dopadům sportswashingu na mezinárodní vztahy a sportovní diplomacii.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis thesis explores the concept of sportswashing, critically analyzing how the term is defined and used within academic literature. Through a qualitative content analysis of 38 peer-reviewed articles indexed in the Web of Science database up to March 2025, the study reveals that there is no unified or universally accepted definition of sportswashing. Instead, the term is interpreted in various ways-most commonly as a form of propaganda, a tool of soft power, or as a subject of critique-depending on the theoretical approach and cultural context of the authors. The research also distinguishes between state and non-state actors involved in sportswashing, highlighting that while the phenomenon is often associated with authoritarian regimes such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, or Russia, similar practices can be found in democratic countries, though they are less frequently labeled as sportswashing. The thesis further examines subcategories like footballwashing and martial arts washing, and emphasizes the importance of clearly identifying the actors and mechanisms behind these practices. Ultimately, the study concludes that the ambiguity and flexibility of the term sportswashing complicate its theoretical and practical application, and calls for more empirical research, cross-cultural perspectives, and methodological clarity to better understand its impact on international relations and sports diplomacy.en
