dc.description.abstract-translatedThis study aims to analyse and evaluate the strategic documents of Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) in the Czech Republic to assess their effectiveness in tourism development planning. Strategic documents are vital tools that outline the vision, goals, and specific actions needed to foster sustainable tourism growth. Through a systematic content analysis of 36 strategic documents from certified DMOs, this research identifies key elements related to economic indicators, stakeholder engagement, sustainability measures, and overall alignment with regional and national tourism objectives. The findings reveal significant gaps in the inclusion of essential economic data, with many DMOs failing to adequately address tourism revenues, employment, and competitive positioning. Conversely, the analysis demonstrates a strong performance in assessing tourism offerings and visitor patterns, indicating a solid understanding of the region’s tourism potential. The study further highlights the importance of sustainability as a critical factor for long-term development, emphasizing the need for DMOs to balance economic growth with environmental protection and social equity. Despite progress in defining development visions and goals, several DMOs lacked clarity in financial planning, timelines, and performance measurement mechanisms. These shortcomings can hinder effective implementation and monitoring of strategic objectives. This research provides valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of DMO strategic planning in the Czech Republic, offering recommendations for enhancing tourism management practices. By addressing these gaps, DMOs can improve their strategies, better align with stakeholder interests, and promote sustainable tourism development that benefits local communities and economies.en
