dc.description.abstractTato bakalářská práce pojednává o geopolitickém významu Džibutska, malého státu situovaného při průlivu Bab-al-Mandab, spojujícím Rudé moře s Adenským zálivem v Indickém oceánu. Jejím hlavním cílem je analyzovat geopolitické postavení Džibutska ve vztahu k vybraným světovým mocnostem. Chce také objasnit, proč se jedná o významný škrtící bod a jak funguje. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a empirickou. První kapitola obsahuje především teoretickou část a definuje všechny aspekty pojmu "škrtící bod" včetně jejich příkladů. Patří mezi ně Hormuzský průliv, Suezský průplav a průliv Bab al-Mandab. Stejnou problematikou jako tato kapitola se zabývali také dva autoři, Alfred Thayer Mahan a Drago Ionu Pala. Druhá kapitola otevírá empirickou část práce a pojednává o geopolitickém postavení Džibutska v Africkém rohu a jeho vnitřním fungování. První podkapitoly jsou věnovány analýze Džibutska a jeho politického režimu. Další podkapitola rozebírá postavení Džibutska v mezivládním úřadu pro rozvoj (IGAD). Hlavním tématem probíraným v této části jsou však vztahy mezi Džibutskem a Etiopií, protože mají pro Džibutsko v regionálním kontextu největší význam. Ve třetí a závěrečné kapitole se tato bakalářská práce zabývá analýzou činnosti vybraných vnějších aktérů, tj. USA, Číny, Francie a Japonska. Každý z těchto států má na území Džibutska svou vlastní vojenskou základnu. Jejich aktivity v zemi jsou významné pro Džibutsko i pro ně samotné.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis bachelor thesis deals with the geopolitical importance of Djibouti, a small state located in the Horn of Africa at the Bab-al-Mandab Strait connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden in the Indian Ocean. Its main goal is to analyze the geopolitical position of Djibouti in relation to selected world powers. It wants also to clarify why it is an important choke point and how it works. The presented paper is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The first chapter mainly includes the theoretical part and defines all aspects of the term "choke point", including their examples. These include the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. There are also two authors who dealt with the issue of choke points, Alfred Thayer Mahan and Drago Ionu Pala. The second chapter opens the empirical part of the work and deals with the geopolitical position of Djibouti in the Horn of Africa and its internal functioning. The first subchapters are devoted to the analysis of Djibouti and its political regime. The next subchapter analyzes the position of Djibouti in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). However, the main topic discussed in this section is relations between Djibouti and Ethiopia, because they have the greatest importance for Djibouti in the regional context. In the third and final chapter, this bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis of the activities of selected external actors, ie the USA, China, France, and Japan. Each of these states has its own military base in the territory of Djibouti and their activities in the country are significant for Djibouti and for themselves.en
