How Different Cleaning Procedures Affect Reliability of Conductive Joints on E-Textiles?

Abstract

This article deals with the influence of different cleaning procedures (washing 40 °C, 60 °C, 92 °C, dry cleaning, wet cleaning) on reliability of conductive joints onto conductive stretchable textile ribbons. In the experiment, the two different conductive connection techniques (low temperature soldering, non-conductive adhesive glueing) are used. The results show that low temperature washing (40 °C) or wet cleaning can be used for cleaning of textiles with ribbons with acceptable degradation of joints electrical resistance. The results also show that higher temperature washing and dry cleaning significantly degrade joints electrical resistance and also the ribbon itself.
