Abstract
Highly autonomous vehicles (HAVs) are the future of mobility trends. Because of the new interior design for the HAVs, passengers will have more freedom in opting for seating configurations. For instance, an occupant can rotate the seat and it is unnecessary to be face-forwarded. As occupant's safety depends on the body posture, the study was planned to investigate how safe rotated seats are for different occupants in HAV. To avoid to run enormous amounts of crash simulations to assess various occupant’s injury a pre-trained neural network based on artificial intelligence was introduced.
