Converter Power Design Comparing of Advanced AC Traction Substations 25kV/50Hz

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the converter power design comparing of advanced variants of the AC traction substation TSS (for railway system 25kV/50Hz respective 60Hz). The first of the modern TSS is topology using a static state converter SFC designed for a full output power. This TSS topology is compared with newly proposed TSS topologies. These proposed topologies use active balancer (symmetrizing active balancer without active power) or combination with a lower power designed converter (one part of power flow through this converter and residual part of active power pass outside the converter). These proposed TSS topologies are modified for TSS cooperation with additional device.
