Mezi náboženstvím a vírou je rozdíl. Zatímco náboženství představuje institucionalizovanou stránku kultu; , víra je osobním vztahem k posvátnu a nepotřebuje prostřeníka. Víra je úzce spojena s nadějí, je otevřená budoucnosti. Tento fakt je znázorněn v biblických a tradičních komentářích k napětí mezi kultem a vírou.

There is a difference between religion and faith. While religion represents the institutionalized aspect of worship; faith is a personal relationship with the sacred and does not need a mediator.
