| dc.description.abstract-translated | In my work, I focused on obtaining information about the painter and creator of the altarpieces of St. Adalbert in the chapel of St. Adalbert, located in the forest between Lhotka and Terešov near Rokycany, and St. Wenceslas on the main altar of the parish church of St. Wenceslas in Stochov (close to Slaný). By researching the registers, I was able to find records of his birth, marriage, and the births and marriages of his children and roughly determine the time of his death. The fundamental contribution of my work is the discovery of his basic life data, which was not known until now. I further point out that to label him „as a painter of altarpieces“ just because his only two known works are altarpieces is in the last quarter of the 18th century, when new altarpieces were created due to the glut of the market with works of art from abolished monasteries and churches only exceptionally, strongly misleading. The above‑mentioned altarpieces certainly formed a negligible part of his work, the absolute majority of which, unfortunately, we do not know. | en |
