The analysis results of the international experience of Digital Twin implementation for increasing energy efficiency renewable energy sources (RES) are presented. Determined differences between existing technologies and DT technology. Described issues and challenges for creating DT for power systems, power plants, transmission systems, and RES. This study introduces the relevantdefinition of DT, its application in the energy field, and key technologies. Firstly, the research background and development history of DT is explained, then the definition of DT is systematically analyzed, and the wide and important applications of DT in the energy field, especially in powerrelated systems, are emphasized. Through such review and discussion, the future challenges to be addressed by DT and the direction of development of necessary technologies are given. Also, companies that provide services for the development, design, configuration and installation of DT, for example, Siemens, General Electric, OPAL-RT, ETAP, were analyzed.en
