Induction Motor Under Open Phase Condition

Abstract

If there is a one-phase interruption anywhere in the distribution network, it results in an asymmetrical power supply of the load. If there are other substations and transformers between the fault and the load, the voltage drop of the affected phase may decrease. This is dangerous for protections because they may not immediately assess the condition correctly. The paper deals with the issue of asymmetrical power supply of induction motors and the effect on their properties, especially warming.
