dc.description.abstractMá bakalářská práce nese název William Robertson Smith a jeho příspěvek ke studiu náboženství. Účelem této práce je zmapovat život Williama Robertsona Smithe a uvést jeho badatelské názory a závěry. A dále ukázat Smithův přínos pro sociální antropologii a studium náboženství. Práce je rozdělena do osmi kapitol, úvodu a závěru. První kapitola se zabývá Smithovým životem a studiem na univerzitách v Aberdeenu a Edinburgu. Druhá kapitola poté osvětluje Smithův pobyt v Německu a jeho intelektuální obrat založený na užití vyšší kritiky. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola hovoří o Smithově článku Bible a s ním spojeným heretickým procesem. Pátá kapitola popisuje jeho pobyt v Edinburgu a Cambridge a okolnosti, za kterých se Smith setkává s Jamesem Georgem Frazerem. Šestá kapitola se zaměřuje na jedno z nejslavnějších děl Williama Robertsona Smithe Lectures on the Religion of the Semites, v němž se zabývá rituálem, mýtem, totemismem a exogamií. Sedmá kapitola se zabývá Smithovými arabskými studii a dílem Kinship and Marriage in the Early Arabia. Osmá kapitola pak pojednává o Smithově stáří.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedMy Undegraduate Thesis is called William Robertson Smith and his contribution to the study of Religion. The aim of this work is to introduce Smith's life and his scolastic opinions and conclusions. This thesis also demonstarates Smith's influence in Social Anthropology and Studies of Religion. The thesis is divided into 8 chapter, introduction and conclusion. Introduction introduces William Robertson Smith to the reader. The first chapter focuses on Smiths early life and his university studies. The second chapter ilustrates Smith's life in Germany and the era Smith started to use higher criticism. The third and fourth chapter is about Smith's article 'Bible' and the trial, where Smith was accused of heresy. The fifth chapter focuses on his life in Edinburgh and Cambridge and meeting James George Frazer. The sixth chapter introduces Smith's most famous work 'Lectures on the Religion of Semites' - work, where Smith is writing about the ritual, myth, totemism and exogamy. The seventh chapter focuses on Smith's studies of arabic culture and his work 'Kinship and Marriage in the Early Arabia'. The last chapter deals with Smith's old age.en
